What products have been recalled?
According to the voluntary recall, Skippy Foods, LLC has recalled more than 9,000 cases of peanut butter in limited amounts, or, according to one report, 60,000 jars of the peanut butter. More specifically, the Skippy brands in the recall include Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter Blended With Plant Protein, Skippy Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread, and Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter. The peanut butter involved in the recall was shipped to 18 states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.
Why has the peanut butter been recalled?
The limited amount of product has been recalled after the company discovered an issue with its manufacturing equipment. The peanut butter in the recall could potentially contain small fragments of stainless steel from the manufacturing plant equipment. Once again, no injuries have been reported and there are no complaints from consumers as of now. The issue was discovered with the manufacturing facility’s internal detection systems, which first alerted a concern.
